Overview

Hydrovolts has invented revolutionary in-stream hydrokinetic turbines that generate renewable energy from water currents.  The turbines are dropped into and secured in the open channel - it is not necessary to divert the flow or construct new channels. The turbines produce 1 to 20 kW each depending on the current velocity.  They can be scaled up and deployed in groups to make more power.

The primary market is water management organizations including irrigation districts, flood control and dam projects, existing hydropower plants, shipping canals and locks and other constructed waterways.  These waterways are managed by engineers, usually have no environmental concerns or permits needed, are easy to access and have very predictable water flows.  There are millions of such customers around the world.  Some customers with access to large fast rivers and tidal channels will be able to generate utility-scale renewable energy with Hydrovolts technology.  Remote communities and households can make power with our technology from nearby streams.  In developing countries Hydrovolts technology will provide power to underserved communities.

The secondary market is customers with remote sensors powered by batteries who need to keep the batteries charged.  Oceanographers, navies and others can use Hydrovolts micro-turbines to generate power from currents and wave action.

The technology is new in-stream turbines that can be simply dropped into place in the water current and anchored in the flow to make 1 to 20 kW of power, enough for 1 to 3 average American homes.  They fit in a shipping container and are easily transported and deployed with small boats.  No heavy construction or channel modification is needed and the turbines can be simply removed for maintenance as needed.  The turbines are revolutionary - they are more efficient than any competing design, they are modular, scalable and inexpensive to make.

The distribution channel is direct sales to large water management organizations and to existing distributors of small-scale solar, wind and micro-hydropower systems.  They are now found around the world and are quite organized

The Hydrovolts Advantage:  Revolutionary technology, a deeply experienced team, local customers and development partners, and a focused business model to achieve global success.
