Hydrovolts Turbines are Designed for Use in Existing Open-Channel Waterways
Hydrovolts offers three classes of turbine: Canal, Waterfall and Remote. Each of these turbines were designed using the Hydrovolts methodology of modular turbines optimized for the target environment that can be quickly and easily installed singly or in groups to maximize power output.
Canal Turbines: Existing open channel waterways – like irrigation canals or channels in industrial plants – are managed by engineers, have limited environmental concerns or permitting requirements, are easy to access and have predictable water flows. There are millions of such sites around the world. Some customers with long and fast enough waterways will be able to use our technology to generate utility-scale renewable energy.
Waterfall Turbines: Our waterfall turbines are specifically designed to capture the energy in spillways or outflows in municipal or industrial plants without affecting plant operations. There are thousands of outflows in water treatment plants, and hundreds of thousands more in industrial situations throughout the world. As these sites are in a built environment, they are easy to access and next to the load. Our waterfall turbines offer an easy and efficient way to capture energy and save significant money on electricity costs.
Remote Turbines: Our turbines can be easily applied in remote locations as well, generating energy from the speed of water. Remote communities and households can make power with our technology from nearby streams. In developing countries, Hydrovolts technology will provide power to underserved communities. Military units of expeditionary forces can use our man-portable backpack size turbines to produce 20-500 watts of power in remote deployment locations. Oceanographers can generate 10-50 watts– enough to charge battery-powered observation systems – by submerging our turbines in the slow, deep ocean currents near their sensors.
Hydrovolts turbines create dependable, renewable, inexpensive power wherever water flows. Let us help you design a solution that works for you.
