Millions of people and businesses are unable to take advantage of the energy content in nearby water flows because distributed hydropower did not make sense: traditional dams are too costly and environmentally destructive, paddlewheels are inefficient, and propeller turbines require complex construction.
Recent developments, however, make distributed hydropower a compelling solution to energy needs. Improvements in generators and power processing have resulted in new turbine components and designs which are much more affordable and reliable. Our energy crisis has caused government and utilities to offer new financial incentives for renewable energy generation. The construction of hundreds of thousands of miles of canals during the 20th Century has created a new global installation opportunity for hydrokinetic turbines (click to read The Opportunity White Paper). We have developed a new patent-pending turbine rotor for capturing hydrokinetic energy cost-effectively. The Flipwing turbine works even in slow flows, capturing energy with minimal environmental impact.
Hydrovolts is committed to more than simple, safe and clean energy generation: we are a Certified B Corporation dedicated to using sustainable business practices to increase our business and benefit the communities in which we work.
