Modular generator endcaps let you switch rotor blades to customize the turbine to take advantage of your site’s flow characteristics. Unlike other micro-turbines, our generator frame design is specifically engineered to easily accommodate different types of rotor blades, allowing us to choose the blade that optimizes the amount of power at an individual site.
- Darrieus blades are based upon airplane technology and can be seen in vertical wind turbine design. They are highly efficient, and best at sites where currents are consistently fast.
- Savonius blades balance efficiency with ease. They are extraordinarily hard to foul and work at relatively slow speeds.
- The Barrel rotor is best in a spillway or waterfall, where the multiple small pockets excels at capturing water falling over a drop.
- Finally, the FlipWing rotor is optimized for remote locations. Its self-clearing design is perfect for unknown water conditions in less maintained waterways, while its flat profile blades pack flat and can work at the slowest speeds
Starting from the top left, blades featured below in clockwise order: Flipwing; Darrieus; Savonius; Barrel Rotor.
